1. Tell me how you dealt with conflict in each case?

Recall how you dealt with conflict in each case. Review in your mind both the effective and ineffective strategies you used in each instance. Although you will not share all of your failures during an interview, understanding how you have grown in addressing conflict is useful as a self-awareness exercise. You also will be prepared should the interviewer ask you to describe the lessons you have learned in regards to dealing with conflict.

3. Talk about a time when your performance was less than your supervisor was expecting?

Spend a short amount of time describing the situation and the majority of the time describing what you learned. I.e. I learned to clearly document expectations prior to beginning a project.

4. Example of a time when you were able to resolve a conflict is important?

I sat down with my co-worker at company x and asked what her issues were. Then I stated my concerns. We both discussed our most important issues and the ones we could compromise on. Once we identified and prioritized common goals, we decided together what to give up and what to keep. Both of us felt like we were gaining something and were instrumental in the compromise.

5. Explain your ability to deal with conflict?

When asked about your ability to deal with conflict, be prepared to explain your overall philosophy and give examples:

★ Show that you are confident in your ability to handle conflict.
★ Focus on how you create win-win situations.
★ Demonstrate how you modify your approach depending on your relationship with the other person:
☆ With a coworker, a proper response would be to attempt to work it out with that person. If a resolution can't be reached, then call in a supervisor.
☆ With a customer, include your ability to let the customer vent, listen to and identify the problem, and try to solve the problem along with follow-up to ensure customer is satisfied
★ Focus on how you deal with the conflict constructively. Avoid sharing a situation that ends in a fight or you quitting.
★ Regardless of the type of situation you discuss, do not speak negatively about anyone, co-worker or customer.

6. What is the mean of conflict in job?

Conflict is something we have to deal with on a daily basis. How we handle it is a reflection of the type of professional we are.

7. Describe a time when you took accountability for a conflict and initiated contact with the individual(s) involved to explain your actions?

Conflict is an inevitible part of the work environment. How you deal with conflict is an important skill. Here don't focus overly much on why the conflict took place, instead talk about what you did to overcome it. I.e. You identified common ground, clarified expectations, identified miscommunications, empathized with the other person etc.

8. Describe a situation when you got co-workers who dislike each other to work together constructively?

Describe how you took time to empathize with how each team member was feeling and why, then talk about the steps you took to find common ground in the group. I.e. Praising positive teaming behavior, discouraging negative teaming behavior. Dividing the task up into parts that each team member could take on etc.

9. Have you faced a situation where you had to work with someone who didn't like you? How did you handle it?

Focus on how you emphasized professionalism versus personal likes or dislikes. Talk about how you clearly established a professional operating environment that produced results, without necessarily having a personal relationship.

10. Talk about a situation where some of your team members disagreed with your ideas or approach. How did you handle the situation?

Classic conflict resolution question. Focus on how you empathized with the positions of those who disagreed with you and how you sought common ground between your ideas. Talk about influencing by providing data, clearly articulating your position and having a solid understanding of their position.
