I can tell whether a pupil has learnt something during the task they have just completed by observing closely . I note how much support is needed at the start of the task and slowly when they are able lessen the support given until i feel sure they have grasped the concept . Then over time i would question pupil's on the same concept put into a different context , i would also repeat the task periodically to refresh their memory and give praise for effort .
