Mechanical Engineering Interview Question:

How does hydraulic clutches work?

Submitted by: Administrator
By using a non-compressible fluid, it acts like a solid push rod.

Both driving and driven shaft contains blades and casing to hold fluid. When driving shaft rotates it pushes fluid in it into the driven shaft because of the impinging of this fluid on the blades of driven shaft the kinetic energy gets transferred to driven shaft.
