How to Answer Interview Question "Why Do You Want To Change Your Job?"

A Few Tips To Answer Interview Question "Why Do You Want To Change Your Job?"

Overview:

People look for job changes at many points of their professional life, and therefore the job interview questions change as the interviewee changes. If a person is a fresher and looking for a job, the interview questions will be much different than questions asked to an experienced person who is looking for a job change. One of the first questions that are asked to a person looking to change his job is “why are you looking for a job change?”

Why Are You Thinking About Changing Jobs?

Two of the most common answers to this question can be:
➔ You have gained all the professional experience that your current job can offer you and naturally want to enhance/broaden your experience.
➔ You may even started looking for a new job because there are no promotion prospects or more responsibilities granted in your current job.

Don'ts For Answering This Question:

While there are several ways to answer the job interview question ‘why do you want to change the current job?’, there are some don’ts that a person should keep in mind while answering this question. One of the first don’ts are that under no circumstances should the person bad mouth or say anything negative about the company that s/he used to work previously, or even some colleagues that they did not have a good time working with.
This will not only give a bad idea about you to the interviewer, but will also give the impression that you are a habitual complainer.
