An Overview:

The interview process has several questions asked to the interviewee that are not exactly relevant to the skills that would be required, or even to the experience that is required for the job posting. These questions are asked to find out whether the person has the motivation to wok in field and the said job and are basically asked to understand the psyche of the prospective employee. Some of these questions can be related to either the previous job or about the profession as a whole. The most common questions that can be asked are: “what do you like about your job?’ Or “What did you like and dislike about your job the most.

About Answering The Question ‘What do you like about your job?’

This question is generally asked to newbies who are either giving the interview for their first or second job. This question is not necessarily asked to find out whether the person likes or dislikes the job, but actually to find out whether he (or she) knows all the aspects of the job – whether positive or negative.  Therefore, the candidate must take this opportunity to inform the interviewer that s/he is well versed with the job and is knowledgeable about the positive as well as the negative traits of the job and the field of industry he belongs to.
The interviewer may also ask what they like best about the job. To answer this question, the interviewee should first make a mental list of all the positive traits of being in the profession and the said job, right from whether it is a noble profession, or to whether they can progress financially or professionally – and then point out the most acceptable reply.  In some fields, it is acceptable to speak about it being lucrative and financially viable, like in marketing or financial positions.

How To Answer "What You Least Like About Your Job?"

To answer this question, one should first consider the difference between a job and a profession/occupation.
If you are asked about what do you dislike about your job, you can speak about what you think is wrong with the profession as a whole. One of the best ways to answer these questions is to point out some of the most common disadvantages of working in a job you’re applying for. This will make an impression that though you dislike these, you have begun to accommodate them, as everyone else has.
When you are asked about what you least like about your previous job, you can refer to things you felt were wrong with the particular company or the department.  Of course, you should be careful not come across as a complainer, as it sets up a bad picture.
