Once you left the interview room, the process is not over yet. Within a day or two, write a short/business-like letter wherein you thank the interviewer for his/her time. A thank-you letter is the best way to reaffirm your interest in the job.
To make you stand out, mention a few points you covered in your conversation which demonstrate how you would be good in this position. The thank you letter is also an opportunity to provide information that may have been overlooked during the interview.
