How to Write Your First Resume/

Tips For Writing Your First Resume

If you are a fresher, you will have little or almost nothing to add to the resume, except some facts that will be crucial for the decision whether you will be invited to the first round of the job interview or not.

Tips:

Design/Format:
T
he most important aspect of a resume is to keep it in a format that is readable and immediately likeable. Many times, a resume is not looked into by the recruiter simply because the format is not eye catching or does not invoke the interest of the recruiter.

Make Simple:
T
he recruiters do not have much time to spend on each resume. Researches suggest that the time spent on each resume is not more than twenty seconds. Therefore, make sure that the resume is simple and concise.

Qualifications:
O
ne of the first aspects you should pay attention to is your academic qualifications. The academic qualifications play a major part in the recruiter decision whether the candidate is the best option for the job or not. Therefore, begin the resume with your personal and communication information.
Once that is done, make it a point to put up your academic and other extracurricular qualifications. Do not fudge facts about your academic and other qualifications.

Skills :
M
ake sure that you point out all the skills that are related to the profession. In today’s world, there are few jobs that one can do without the knowledge of computers and the Internet.
Therefore, make sure that you lay out your knowledge of computers, by pointing out any computer or other technical courses that you have gone through.

Relevant Experience:
A
nother aspect to keep in mind is your experience in the professional field – no matter how small it may be.
Therefore, if your experience as a summer intern is relevant to the job, make sure that you give proper space and time in the resume for your time as a summer intern.

Related details:
T
hough a resume should be quite detailed and elaborate, you should also make note that it should be to the point and relevant. Of course, a resume has a place for hobbies, but not much importance should be given to hobbies.
Only if the hobbies are relevant to the job profile, like puzzle solving or other logic/intelligent games being relevant to programming, then they should be mentioned in the resume.

References:
C
hances are that the recruiter will call up the references or double check everything about your resume simply because you are a fresher. If the recruiter finds anything fudged in your records, he or she may put your resume into the trash can immediately.
Also, if your GPA records are good enough, make it a point to take the recruiter’s attention towards them.

Last words:
O
ne of the first aspects to keep in mind is the job itself. Consider whether the job has expressly written ‘freshers welcome’ or some other words hinting at their welcome for entry levels. Chances are, many times, your resume will not even be considered only because you are a fresher in the particular field that the company is related to.

Once you are convinced that the company is inviting freshers for the required job, you can be rest assured that they go through the entire fresher’s resumes too.

Failure is the first step towards seccess.
