Explain about a time when you stepped into a leadership role?

I have not have any direct leadership experience but I have worked in teams quite a lot of times. I was selected to take part in a problem solving competition which was a very memorable experience as I got to exchange ideas and work together alongside other students to produce a solution. I have also done a lot of debates from studying sociology where a lot of times we depend on each other's viewpoint to present an arguable point.
