1. Please explain what are your qualifications as a fashion designer?

This question can be answered in several ways. You can describe your education: fine arts with fashion/design focus. You can describe your work experience: fashion houses, employers, employees, and of course your actual work (the portfolio). Or you can describe your personal characteristics.

2. Tell us when did you first realize you wanted to pursue a career as a designer?

When I was in high school – I was very focused on design so I went to Rhode Island School of Design.

3. Tell us how is working in fashion different today than from when you started out?

Anything goes, and everything gets oversaturated very quickly. There is too much stuff available at every price.

4. Explain me what trends do you currently see in the fashion industry?

It is imperative to always conduct your due diligence before an interview by reviewing the job description, company website and social media pages to familiarize yourself with the company and work involved.

Tell the interviewer about fashion trends you have identified in areas specific to the company you applied for. It is important to show the interviewer you did not apply to the advertised position simply because you are looking for just any job, but that you wish to work for this company specifically.

5. Please explain what Is Weather-wear Fashion?

Have you ever thought about what might someone be wearing where they live? Well, if you lived somewhere cold, you may have many boots and jackets. But others might have tank-tops and shorts. You could think this idea is weird, but that is because you live in a different place. If you know you live somewhere cold, wear appropriate clothing items. I hoped this helped you realize that fashion also has something to do with the weather.

6. Tell us how To Making A Toile (muslin)?

After making a rough paper pattern, or life-size 2-D plan, of the garment, a sample machinist (or skilled sewing machine operator) then makes a trial version of the garment from plain-colored calico. The toile (called a muslin in the U.S.) is put on to a dress stand (or a model) to see how it fits and whether it hangs properly.

7. Tell us have You Get Any Training For Fashion Designing?

This is another biographical interview question that relates back to the fashion designer's career is where he received his training. Some fashion designers have received extensive professional training in fashion design, including college degrees and high profile internships.

Others have received little to no training, relying solely on raw talent. The answer to this question tells you a bit about how the designer developed as an artist and also gives readers an idea of what it takes to become a successful fashion designer.

8. Can you describe your creative process?

You want to get a better idea of how this person thinks about the creative process: Does he rely on inspiration? Data? Just plain hard work? The answer to this question will also provide you with more information about what the designer thinks are the most important steps in the process -- such as research, interviews, the critique process, etc.

9. Tell me what shall we do with the drunken sailor?

Wait till he passes out and then nick his clothes. The nautical theme has bobbed up yet again. You'll have seen the sailor chic at Chanel, the anchors away at Sportmax, the yo-ho pirates at Jean Paul Gaultier. Stella McCartney even did dolphin prints, bless her eco-friendly socks. So, look out for wide-leg, button-front trousers (great at Urban Outfitters), stripes, brass buttons, naval-style jackets and maritime dresses (best at Gap). Or just head to Oasis for the striped jacket and white sailor pants.

10. Tell us in what general area of design do you work or wish to work?

The areas are generally divided into three groups: street fashion (mass-manufactured high fashion); ready-to-wear (small collections); and haute couture, where unique cat-walk garments are created mostly without practical considerations. Don't try to impress employees with what you are not. If you are an expert in high street fashion – you will be appreciated and find plenty of work.

11. Tell us when did you land your first internship and what was the most valuable thing you learned from this experience?

I had an internship in college, and after two weeks the company went out of business. Fortunately, I was able to get another internship, but I realized early on what an unforgiving business this is.

12. Tell us is Fashion Design Differs From Costume Design?

Yes, fashion design is differs from costume design due to its core product having a built in obsolescence usually of one to two seasons. A season is defined as either autumn/winter or spring/summer.

13. Please explain what Are Your Inspiration About Fashion Designing?

Relatively easy biographical question to start off with is to ask the fashion designer where he finds his inspiration. The question is still related to the designer's fashion industry career, but it also gives you insight to who he is as a person outside of his work. By answering the question, the designer is giving you a peek into how he thinks. The things that inspire him are also the things that interest him as a person and can help your readers get to know the designer on a more personal level.

14. Can you explain me about a time when you had to balance multiple competing priorities?

Oftentimes, an agency will take on a last-minute project for a client, or a project you thought was completed will need additional adjustments. When these projects are thrown at someone who already has a full plate, it can be frustrating and stressful. The candidate's answer should show that he can ask the right questions of his manager to determine what he should focus on.

15. Tell us what skills are important for a successful career in fashion design?

Designers have to either combine marketing intelligence and artistic vision themselves, or be able to delegate business duties to hired specialists, agents, etc. while they focus on the art.

16. Tell me what was the biggest rookie mistake you made when just starting out?

When I was asked how long I had been designing, which usually starts after college, I always added in my college years!

17. Please explain what are your greatest strengths, and how will they help you as a Fashion Designer?

I thrive on challenges and do not hesitate to work long hours to get the job done. I also have strong project management, time management and organizational skills which will absolutely benefit me in this role.

There are three main ways in which designers can work:

19. Do you know what Fashion Designer's Design?

Fashion designers attempt to design clothes which are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. They consider who is likely to wear a garment and the situations in which it will be worn. They have a wide range and combinations of materials to work with and a wide range of colors, patterns and styles to choose from.

Though most clothing worn for everyday wear falls within a narrow range of conventional styles, unusual garments are usually sought for special occasions such as evening wear or party dresses.

20. Tell us which Skills Are Important For A Fashion Designer For A Successful Career?

Designers have either combine marketing intelligence and artistic vision themselves, or to be able to delegate business duties to hired specialists, agents, etc. while they focus on the art.

21. Please explain are you computer literate in relation to fashion design? Would you be able to use software to produce designs?

Be frank. Some established designers use no or little computer software in their work. Others rely heavily on technology (CAD). Simply explain how you work. If you are an efficient designer, your use of computer software will not be relevant.

22. What made you want to expand your business from just designing clothing to furniture as well as various collaborations?

I think everyone wants a greater footprint and likes to be considered a lifestyle brand, expanding to all areas of your customer's life.

23. Can you tell us what Are Your Work Ethics?

Biographical question that you might consider when interviewing fashion designer is that drives his work ethic. Same elements that drive his work ethic and make him strive to be a better designer probably relate closely to what motivates him in his personal life. By delving into the designer's motivations you and your readers can better understand what moves the designer, and why he makes the career moves that define his career.

24. Tell us what is one thing you look for when interviewing a potential candidate for your company?

Well I always look for a good personality fit in addition to talent. I don't like people that talk too much or too little. When you spend a lot of time with people, personality is important.
