Newer DCIM tools measure, monitor, automate, and optimize processes for energy efficiency. They can do things like:

☛ Initiate load shifts: for example, when a monitoring system detects a reduced data center load at night, it might consolidate applications onto rack #1 and turn off rack #2, saving energy.
