What is a floodplain?
Submitted by: AdministratorIf a river tends to flood, the most practical solution may be to designate a more or less flat area along the river as the "floodplain". This Area is allowed to flood and thus save other, more valuable areas from flooding. Obviously, no buildings should be erected on the floodplain and it is usually unsuitable for farming, too.
