Why do leaves change color?
Submitted by: AdministratorLeaves are the food factories of plants. During the spring and summer, leaves are actively making food and they are filled with chlorophyll, which gives green color. As summer, ends and the days get shorter and cooler, food production stops and the leaves stop producing food. The chlorophyll disappears and they begin to change into the yellows, oranges, and reds that we see in autumn.
